Four of a Kind was formed in June of 1973 by Belleville Il. flower shop owner Bob
Dill www.dillsfloral.com . A former trumpet player with the "The Fabulous Sundowns", Bob started his
own band featuring Charlie Weyhaupt on keyboards, Jim Hillesheim on base, and
Robbie Vogel on drums. Charlie and Jim are still with the band today. Under Bobs
leadership, Four of a Kind played hundreds of performances through out the
greater metropolitan area. For several years Four of a Kind was the "house band"
in the lounge at Fishers Restaurant located in Belleville, IL. Bobs
friendly demeanor, witty sense of humor, and personal generosity to his band
members made Four of a Kind the successful band it still is today.
With Bobs unfortunate death in April
of 2001, Four of a Kind is now under the leadership of keyboardist Charlie
Weyhaupt. The band is still very active playing receptions, anniversaries,
private parties, and park concerts. Below is a list of former members that have
been with the band through out the years.
On guitar, Tom Galvin, Jerry Rau,
and Gordon "Shorty" Smythe. On drums, Robbie Vogel, Rich Jones, Alan Shilling, Dan
Romantic, and Steve Westland. We would also like to thank alto sax player Joe Quevreaux.
